Who holds your details

Kitchen Frequencies is run by a private individual in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. There is no company behind it.

Write to contact@kitchenfrequencies.tv about anything on this page. That address reaches a person, not a queue.

We are still settling what has to be published here about the person and the address behind the show. Until it is, the email address above is the way to reach us, and it works.

What we collect, and why

Booking a seat stores four things, and nothing else:

Your name

So we know who is at the table and can greet you at the door.

Your WhatsApp number

To send your confirmation and the address. It is also how we avoid giving one person two seats.

How many people you bring

A number, so the seat count stays honest. We never ask who they are.

Anything you tell us in the note

Optional, and yours to leave empty. Please keep health details out of it — tell us at the door instead.

An email address is not needed for a seat. There is an optional box for one, covered below. We set no analytics, no advertising code and no tracking of any kind, here or on kitchenfrequencies.tv — the emails included: no tracking pixels, no rewritten links.

The legal ground is that you asked us for a seat and we cannot give you one without these details. Barring someone from the house rests instead on our own interest in keeping the room safe.

If you ask for email updates

The booking form has an unticked box: email me when a new session is announced. Tick it and type an address, and we store that address and when you ticked it. Nothing else about you is attached to it, and your seat does not depend on it.

We first send one email asking you to confirm. Until you press the button in it, nothing else is sent. If you never press it, the address is deleted after 7 days.

Once confirmed, you get one email per new session, from no-reply@kitchenfrequencies.tv. Every one has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes the address straight away. It is never shared, sold or used for anything else.

The legal ground is your consent. You can take it back at any time, and doing so costs you nothing.

If someone put you down over WhatsApp

Seats are sometimes taken from the group chat rather than this site. If that is how you got here, we hold your name and number without you having filled anything in. Everything on this page still applies, and you can have your details removed the same way.

Who else sees them

Cloudflare

Runs the site and stores the bookings. Their anti-abuse check on the booking form also sees your IP address when the page loads, before you type anything. It is there to stop bots taking every seat. If you ask for email updates, Cloudflare also sends those emails.

Our own automation server

Sends your confirmation. It is our machine, not a company we hand you to.

WhatsApp

Carries the message itself, and keeps it under its own terms. If you would rather not be messaged there, say so and we will find another way.

Nobody else. Nothing here is sold to anyone.

How long we keep them

Your name, number and note are stripped 90 days after the session. What survives is a seat and a date, which is not you. The message queue clears itself after 30 days.

An email address you asked us to write to is kept until you unsubscribe, or 7 days if you never confirm it.

Two things are kept longer, on purpose. A number barred from the house stays until it is lifted by hand. Our own record of who changed what stays, with your details taken out of it.

One honest footnote. Our database keeps an encrypted backup we cannot switch off. Anything removed, by the clock or at your request, can live on there for up to 30 more days. Then it is gone for good. We use that backup only to recover from a failure, never to bring removed details back.

Being filmed

Sessions are photographed, recorded and streamed. That is the show, and coming along means being in the room while it happens.

You can still ask to stay out of it. Tick the box on the booking form and we keep you out of what we publish. Ask afterwards and we take it down — write to contact@kitchenfrequencies.tv and say which session.

Under Dutch law you keep that right whatever a form says, and we would honour it anyway.

If you played

Head chefs get a page: name, handles, a line about the music, sometimes a portrait. It is there to credit you and to send people to your accounts. Ask us to change or remove any of it and we will.

What this site puts on your device

On a booking page, nothing that follows you anywhere. If the form bounces back, your answers wait in the tab so you do not retype them, and they go when the tab does.

Signing in to the admin sets two cookies, which only the people running the sessions ever see. All of it is needed to make the thing work, so there is no banner to click.

What you can ask for

A copy of what we hold. A correction. Deletion. A stop on us using it. Your details in a file you can take elsewhere.

The fastest route is the link in your confirmation message: your own seat page has a button that removes your details on the spot. Otherwise write to contact@kitchenfrequencies.tv.

If we get it wrong you can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch data protection authority, at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
